I love September, but it’s also kind of an awkward month for styling, thats why we call it a “transitional month”. September brings the beginning of fall, and promises of cooler weather in the coming months. We start to beg for cooler weather, but it’s just not happening yet. Just because Pumpkin Spice Latte’s are back, doesn’t mean we need to throw on sweaters and boots just yet. So, don’t move those summer pieces to the back of the closet- I’m sharing 5 September styling tips that will help transition you summer wardrobe into fall.
–Take your favorite summer outfit and throw a denim jacket over it. It’s that time of year when the days are still warm, but the nights can start to cool down. When the weather cools down, simply add a denim jacket over your favorite summer outfit to add that extra layer. I love pairing a denim jacket over my summer dresses, as well as denim and tees!
– Incorporate fall colors without adding layers. Start adding in warmer colors-olive green has been my go-to fall color. I’m adding fall colors in with my denim, accessories, and dresses!
– Bright colors aren’t going anywhere for fall so keep your favorite brightly colored pieces out! Style them with a denim jacket, cardigan, or boots to add that fall vibe. Yellow will be a color coming with me from summer to fall!
– Pair your favorite skirt with a lightweight sweater. There isn’t a time that I give up my skirts until it’s like mega cold. Until that time, especially in the fall, I like to pair my lightweight sweaters with skirts-even my summer skirts.
– Add a silk scarf. Where I live, it’s still beyond too hot to be thinking about adding in a heavy scarf-plus there is still so much time for that. In this transitional month, try adding in a lightweight square scarf in a fall hue to accessorize your outfit. Whether you try adding it to your neck, hair, or your favorite bag.
Just as a freebie-never give up your little black dresses. They are in style any and every season. I’m styling this glam LBD for warmer weather, but add a coat and pointed toe heels for the cooler weather! It’s definitely beautiful dress for any season.
