I received a lot of questions about why I was in Miami, and what I was doing there during my visit this month. I travelled to Miami for Miami Swim Week with a few girls. Not only did we have events and shows we were invited to attend while we were there, we also had some work to do as we teamed up with several amazing companies for our adventures. I also had so many questions about a lot of the looks I wore during Miami Swim Week. So, I figured I would give you a round up of the looks and the details of our trip!
On our first day in Miami, I wore my “travel outfit” for the first half of the day-we attended a pop-up shop where we met some of the designers of swimsuits that were being featured in runways shows. Once we got back to our hotel room and changed, I slipped into this tropical maxi for a night of runway shows and an after party. This maxi dress was a perfect piece for Miami, and it’s perfect for summer. The cutouts are perfectly flirty.
Our second day in Miami, we were up early to venture around South Beach, we ate lunch and grabbed some ice cream. I wore a yellow button front maxi for the first part of the day. Then that afternoon we changed and I wore a smock mini dress for another night of runway shows. My favorite show of the trip was on this night-the Sport Illustrated Swim Show. The entire show was empowering and inspiring. I watched such strong women walk that runway and it was beautiful!
We were up extremely early on our third day in Miami, it must have been somewhere around 6am. We teamed up with South Pointe Tavern to host a picnic on the beach-more details on this coming soon. I wore a ribbed one piece swimsuit and layered on a lightweight wrap dress. The Miami sun feels hotter than Tampa (where I live). We were drenched by the time we wrapped up our picnic, but we did have such a fun time! That afternoon I had a pop-up shop that I popped my head into-it was the Melissa Shoes pop up and I snagged these cute slides, so comfy and perfect for traveling! That afternoon we went back to Southern Pointe Tavern for happy hour, relaxed and enjoyed our afternoon. I changed into a denim dress for the afternoon. Paired it with a hair scarf, and fringe earrings!
Our last day in Miami was an early one as well. We wanted to hit the beach once last time before we left the area. We spent our morning in the stillness of South Beach, enjoying the light breeze that came in every so often. Once the sun popped up overhead we made our way back to the room to pack up our belongings. After we packed up our car and checked out of the hotel, we ventured into the Wynwood Art District. I had been so excited to see this area as I knew all about the outdoor art. We snagged lunch and ice cream in the area before making our way back home!
Places I recommend going:
–Wynwood Art District-get out and walk a bit. Admire the art down every street. There is food and even treats to stop and get while in the area. I ate at The Butcher Shop and it was really good!
–South Pointe Tavern-Enjoyed their cocktails and charcuterie boards. They have a really great happy hour M-F 5-7 where it’s ½ OFF on all House Wines, Beer and House Cocktails.
–South Beach– it can get a little crazy, but it’s definitely a fun experience. Check out the cool Art Deco buildings, stop into some beachside cuisine, and head down to the beach where you can spot some iconic lifeguard stands!
I had never been to Miami and while I was super nervous about going, I had such an amazing time while I was there. I grew closer with the group of girls I traveled with and felt my creativity just fly! Be prepared for Miami’s sun by bringing a portable fan, and don’t forget your sunscreen! Stay hydrated and have fun exploring!
