Last week I shared Three Ways to Pray for Your Husband and this week I wanted to dive into three ways to pray for your wife.
Women are rising up all of the country to become leaders in our society. They are accepting new pressures while still grasping onto their roles of wife and mother. Husbands, your wife needs your prayer. Here’s three ways to pray for your wife:
Pray for protection: As a woman, I know the struggle of having to constantly battle fear, anxiety, insecurities and vulnerability . Husbands, when you pray for protection, pray for her emotional, spiritual and physical protection. We need that prayer of protection in our day to day errands, activities, our places of work and even while scrolling through our social media.
Prayer: Lord, please protect my wife emotionally, spiritually and physically. Guard her and protect her through her day to day activities-be her shield when I cannot be with her. Help me to see when I need to defend her and be her physical protection. Amen
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Psalm 16:1 Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
Pray for her work/life balance: Women are often juggling responsibilities of both work demands and wife/mom responsibilities. It’s easy for things to feel overwhelmed and off balance and this can impact our relationships and our well-being. We often put self-care on the back burner. We need both encouragement and prayer for our work/life balance-to know when we need to take some time for self-care (without feeling guilty about it).
Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you would give my wife strength to accomplish her work and peace when it’s time for her to slow down and rest. I pray that you would guide her and direct her throughout her day. Give me the wisdom to see areas where she may need my support and encouragement.
Mark 6:31 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.
Pray for healing of her hardships and struggles: Hardships and struggles not only come from our past, but many women are living their lives still in their pain. They go about their day carrying heavy weights. The hardships of life affect our marriage, friendships, as well as our spiritual, mental and physical well-being. Pray that there would be hope and healing from life’s storms and curveballs. That the burdens she may be carrying with her may be lifted. Make her feel safe and secure when she does share her vulnerabilities.
Prayer: Lord, I lift my wife up to you. I pray that you would give her healing from her hardships and lighten the burden she may be carrying. I pray that you would bring freedom into her life. Help me to make her feel safe and secure.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Psalm 107:14 He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.
