“It was rather beautiful: the way he put her insecurities to sleep. The way he dove into her eyes and starved all of the fears and tasted all the dreams she kept coiled beneath her bones”
– Christopher Poindexter
Today I am going to share with you my first set of wedding pictures! For the next couple weeks I will share just a couple photos of my wedding in a segment call “Wedding Wednesday”. This was truly a magical day for my husband and I. I love going back through the pictures to relive one of the best days of my life.
I had a “Nautical” theme since the wedding was held on a thee story yacht. I incorporated the navy blue color in the small details. My shoes were by Badgley Mischka and they were the most comfortable heels I have ever worn. My garters were bought from Etsy and the gems that were placed in the center were the same color as my shoes. Perfection.
There is a unique story behind my Ring Bearer and the “pillow” he used. The ring bearer is my brother. I had bought this Nautical box that had R & J engraved into it. I didn’t want him to just carry this little box so I went on a search for something that would make it more suitable for my brother to carry. Just a couple weeks before my wedding I found out that my grandmother, whom I loved and cherished, got married to my grandfather exactly 7 days before me in 1966. The Bible that was used in their wedding was passed down to my mom who used it in her wedding bouquet when she married my dad. As I was in “awe” of this unique discovery, I decided to make it a tradition. So, I asked my mom if she could pull it out. She did and as I was looking at it I came up with the idea to use it for my ring bearer pillow. Since Christ is the foundation of my marriage, I decided to use the Bible as a symbol of this foundation and the rings were placed on top which symbolizes my marriage. I tied it all together with a burlap ribbon. Though my grandma could not be with me on my wedding day, I knew she was there in spirit. I felt as though the Bible was also a symbol of her and how she kept her faith even though she went through so many struggles in her life. After the wedding I marked in the Bible the verse Song of Solomon 3:4 “For I have found the one whom my soul loves”. This verse was displayed at my wedding.
Here’s a tip for upcoming brides: Find out if your family has any wedding traditions or memorabilia that you could use in your wedding!
Have a happy Wednesday!
