Weekend Recap 1.29.18

Weekend Recap:

Another Monday is here, which means it’s time to get caught up in another installment of “Weekend Recap“. If you are not familiar with this, it’s just me getting personal with you. Sharing things I’ve learned, what I did over the weekend, and even items I’m loving! I figured this would be a great way for you to get to know be better, and I hope you enjoy!

Speaking of getting personal, it has been brought to my attention a lot that a blogger’s life may seem perfect, staged, and even easy. As a “blogger” myself, I’m here to tell you the TRUTH. Let me take you back a little bit. I’ve held a job since I was 15. I became independent, and worked myself into higher up positions no matter where I was, or what I did. Even in college, I strived to be on the Honors list, and I did for three years. I always knew, deep down, that one day I wanted to have my own business. So, I worked everyday to learn what it takes to have that. I started my “fashion blog”, 4 years ago (right after college), sharing random fashion moments. My blog was “random”, but my thought process was, “I love fashion, and I want to be a part of the industry. This will be my way“. A year later, after receiving some collaborations with brands, getting married, moving, and starting my 45-50 hour a week job, I decided to “go all in” (one thing was never enough for me, I had to have multiple things happening in my life at once). So, for three years now, I’ve been working on making A Daydream Love my priority and personal business. For those that do “blogging” the right way (no follower buying, follow/unfollow, or loop giveaway), know that this is a 24/7 job. I speak for others when I say that, we almost never stop. Emails come in at all times of the day, and even night.  Planning content for not just the blog, but Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Email Newsletters, Pinterest and constantly having to work with new algorithms and changes in the social media world.  Not too mention, that we have to shoot the content, edit pictures, read contracts, negotiate, go to events, decorate and even stage beautiful backdrops to create a story for you! Why do we do it? Some may think it’s because we get “free stuff”, but for those with a heart and passion for this industry do it because we want to inspire you, and show you a way to do something that isn’t in a book or magazine.

The TRUTH is that I struggle just like everyone else. Last year, I not only lost my Grandpa, I stepped away from my job in the family business, learned what it was like to be at ground 0 with work, felt the strain and pressure of trying to make my dreams a reality, cried because I didn’t know what I was doing with my life, or if I was good enough for this industry, felt confused about my next steps, and had multiple failed attempt at trying to go in other directions with my life. That was just last year, in years prior I have felt stress to the point where my body started giving up on itself and I couldn’t even think clearly, thus bringing on this thing called “anxiety”. All the while I still kept growing with A Daydream Love because I had a growing passion to create. It is NOT easy, but this is something that I want, and I’m working for it everyday, 24/7. Even when I’m sleeping, I’m thinking about things I could do.  As a “blogger”, I may look like I have it all together, but I’m here to bring a little bit of inspiration this small part of the internet-so yes, sometimes it’s staged, and decorated. We all have different dreams and goals in life, for some it’s being a mom, a news reporter, becoming a stylist, interior decorator, photographer, traveling etc… I’m here to say that I’m just like you, working and striving to make my dreams and goals a reality. I get my hands dirty too. While I want to be “real” with you all (and I’ve never not been), I also want to inspire you, brighten your day, help you style your outfits, and make you smile.  I hope this helps you all understand a little bit more about “bloggers” and what we do, what I do specifically.

So, this past weekend I enjoyed some time with friends at Gasparilla, and then with family for my brother’s birthday. Gasparilla is so much fun, but it’s also straight madness. My Tampa people will know what I mean. We will do anything for those beads won’t we? Walking for miles, screaming so much our voice disappears, and getting lost in the crowds. All the while we are laughing, and having fun. It’s important to have weekends in life. We all need a small break to let our week go, and have a fresh start to a new week.

Things I’m Loving:

I have spring fever. This $25 palm print sweatshirt is a great way to transition into spring!

How cute is this mug? Get your day started with a little smile and something pretty (and coffee of course)

Weekend Recap 1.22.18

Weekend Recap:

Each time I start to prepare for my weekend recap post, and what I want to share, I always think about something I’ve learned over the weekend.  My personality, by nature, is to be constantly learning, growing, and furthering myself into success. Success in my relationships, finances, business etc… So, if you wonder why I’m always sharing with you “what I learned”, it’s because I’m constantly looking to learn. Sometimes I drive myself crazy with it, then I start overthinking, and well…it doesn’t always do me any better.

Overthinking, we all do that don’t we. Goodness, it can really mess up a situation. So, that’s exactly what I learned this weekend. While it’s ok to learn and “think”, I have to put the pause button on it when my brain starts going to far. I let a perfectly good evening go sour  this past weekend because of my overthinking. My “fix” is to not stop thinking, but to let the thinking have it’s moment, and then move on, keep yourself in the moment, and don’t forget you’re living your life. As Elsa would say….LET IT GO.

What I’m Loving:

Ladies, it’s almost that time again, Valentine’s Day! While, I’ve never been a fan, I’ll never turn down chocolate or a date night wearing something red (or pink). Here’s a little something something for the evening! It’s UNDER $60!

I’m really loving this quote. It goes for exercising, eating healthier, job, or even cleaning! Use what you have, do what you can.

Weekend Recap 1.8.18

My first weekend recap not only of 2018, but since before Christmas. It seems that we haven’t had a Monday where we weren’t celebrating a Holiday! This will be a long week for some, as it’s the first full week back to work. I hope that you are all able to stay focused, inspired, and motivated.

For me, prior to about 4 months ago, I felt my work becoming so mundane. Same routine, day in and day out. Not too mention, that my job was high stress and I felt it as my body began to tell the signs. The pressure took it’s toll on me in many different ways. My body began to show a person who was  tired and stressed out. Which, doesn’t sound flattering, and it wasn’t. In order to tackle my day I needed to keep myself surrounded my positive things. Starting my day with prayer in the morning, asking God for strength and wisdom, I had motivational quotes sitting on my desk, coming home to someone who loved and supported me, and surrounding myself with friends who were willing to pray for me. Life isn’t easy, it was never meant to be, but I know there are many of you who are in the same heavy shoes I once had to walk in. So, today is all about sharing MOTIVATION on my weekend recap. It’s something I have been thinking about all weekend as we head into the Holiday free streak, and work is back to normal.

Here are some motivation Bible versus:

Psalm 46:5 – God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Isiah 58:11 – The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

Here are some motivational quotes:

Weeked Recap:

This past Saturday, besides taking additional time to work, I took my mom, sisters, and brothers out to lunch at one of my favorite spots in Hyde Park, Bartaco! We all enjoyed some delicious tacos, and then we went down to the beautiful Riverwalk, Tampa. The best time to be on Riverwalk is now, the weather is gorgeous! On Sunday, I spent the morning with my Dad celebrating his birthday and then having the family back together for dinner that night! Family is very important to me, I treasure every moment with them. So, having a weekend full of family time was just what I needed.

Things I’m Loving:

It’s about time to refresh my “everyday bag”. You know, the one that gets left in your car, the one that holds all your lost socks and booby pins. Yes, that one. I love this one for UNDER $50 and also comes with a little wristlet!

Weekend Recap 12.18.17

Weekend Recap:

Did anyone else do some last minute Christmas shopping this weekend? I did! While most people get stressed out over the crowds and craziness, I find a little bit of fun in all of the sanity. I think it’s just because I love this time of year, and I love to give. So, it makes it all worth it! Besides Christmas shopping, I spent some time working on some fun Holiday shoots for looks coming to the A Daydream Love this week (sneak peek below). I’m really excited about these looks, mainly because I’m shooting with a new lens…and not because I wanted a new lens. No, last weekend my camera fell off my tripod and the lens on my camera snapped in two. Worst feeling in the world! So, I went out and bought a new, updated lens. In the midst of my literal “madness” and “anger” over my situation of not having a lens, and knowing I had to buy one, I had to stop myself to be thankful for all that I have. That I have a reason to shoot with a camera. Thank you, to all of those who read and follow along with me here on A Daydream Love!

Tis the season for Christmas lights and endless hot cocoa, except this weekend I also got sick. Thankfully, I was still able to get some work done, but it didn’t come without the need to for extra sleep. I tried to keep up with all the fun bustle by going on a walk with my pup to downtown Tampa, and a Christmas lights walk-thru while enjoying some popcorn. Anyone else feel like they just can’t stop, and being sick is holding you back? It’s bad, I always feel this need to “keep going” even though I’m sick. I have to remind myself that I need to take care of myself. Rest is good for the body and mind. I hope you all are getting some rest even though there is a lot to keep up with this season!

What I’m Loving:

I’m in charge of a lot of side dishes for the upcoming Holiday parties, I’ve been finding some good recipes and pinning them to my Pinterest board. This one looked especially delish!

I can’t believe I’m already talking about New Year’s Eve, but this dress is just too cute not to share it with all of you in case you all are looking for a dress to wear for NYE!

Weekend Recap 12.11.17

Weekend Recap:

I can’t believe we are making our way into a two week countdown till Christmas! I feel like I haven’t soaked up all that this season has to offer. I’m going to make it a point to concentrate on ‘JOY’ these next two weeks! Joy in giving, being with family, and enjoying the Holiday season! To kick things off I’m planning to host a hot cocoa night at my home. I turned my bar cart into a hot cocoa cart for the kids! I created a hot cocoa bar a couple years ago, and loved it so much that I’m bringing out all of the goodies for the family! I need to know, do you use milk or water in your hot cocoa? I love the creaminess the milk gives, but I never mind it with water!

So, this weekend I unplugged and it was so nice. My family traveled down to our lake house to spend sometime together. We didn’t get any rest, but it was nice to get away, and just have quality family time. I forget what it’s like to not be glued to mine phone! The ladies of the house played scrabble, cooked, lounged, and talked while the men went out and had their first go at duck hunting. To our surprise, it was a total success for them. Sometimes you just need those little times to unplug and enjoy the moment.

Things I’m Loving:

It’s freezing in Florida and all I want to do it keep warm by bundling up in cozy jackets. This one is stinkin’ adorable and looks like a cloud! It’s on sale too!

I’ve been thinking about updating my Dinnerware, maybe when Spring makes an arrival. In my search I found this set that I’m IN LOVE with! I just adore the blue print and I would totally add in a pop of yellow with a bowl full of lemons!
