How I Choose My Photo Shoot Locations

Outfit Details: Chicwish c/o, Everlane denim, Baublebar earrings (similar), similar wedges

When it comes to photography, I’m an amateur. I do what I can, with the tools that I have.  However, I spend a lot of time making sure my images look “pretty” and “likable”.  One of the things I spend my time on when it comes to my photos, is the location of where they are shot. While there are times when I shoot “in the moment” pictures, most of the time it’s well thought out so that there is a story to tell behind my photos. I feel like one of the reasons I got to where I’m at with my blog and brand are because of my images. So, I’m letting you in on some insight as to “How I Choose My Photo Shoot Locations”, to give you something to think about when it comes to photographing your own content. Whether you are a blogger/influencer or not, these three things could help you choose your next photoshoot location.

Three things that go on in my thought process:

Will what I’m wearing match or go along with the background and for non-fashion bloggers, will what I’m photographing go along with the rest of the area behind it. I don’t want the main focal point of the shot to clash with the background. If you are not sure, take a test shot to see how it looks before completing the shoot.

What is the lighting situationIf I have to shoot when the sun is beating down during the middle part of the day, most of the time, I will not shoot without a shaded area to stand in. So, will your location be good for direct sunlight? Or, will your location look better during the afternoon with the sun going down, that “golden hour”.  Even if the lighting is good, will there be a cast of shadows, or a color cast from the surrounding areas. For example, I don’t shoot next to red objects, because the red reflects onto me and I don’t like the red cast in the photo. Same goes with a multitude of settings.

Will the photo tell a story? The majority of my images have a story to tell behind it, or at least I would like for there to be a story. A story about why I wore my outfit there or on that day. Overall, I question if I can give you a story about why I wore this outfit, based on my images. Can I tell you a story based on the pictures your seeing. Does it tell you what I did, what I saw, and what I like.  Does it show you, me.

Obviously, my pictures could be a million times better, they could be edited differently, or shot differently, but for the most part I’m happy with what I’ve learned and created.

How To Style A Denim Dress For Spring

Outfit Details: F21 dress , Gorjana necklace and hoops c/o, Steve Madden shoes, Cult Gaia bag

Hello, warmer weather, except for the past few days, it’s been chilly. Spring has a way of being a little bipolar, it can go from hot to cold in just a day! However, the warm weather has been so nice. I’ve been out and about a little more, enjoying the outdoors, picking the patio section at the restaurant, and enjoying some of the outdoor shops. This past weekend for our adventure out to bartaco for lunch, I wore this denim dress, which I’m slightly obsessed with. I loved the open back, yet still an appropriate length. I felt like this would have been a great dress for a festival too. With Coachella going on recently, I felt like I was a part of the action without actually going. I was keeping up with all of the IG stories…hello #beychella! I styled this this denim dress with some gold hoops and a star necklace. Then wore my new favorite espadrille shoes. Denim dresses are so fun to style because I feel like you can style them so many different ways-add pops of color or go neutral! See how I styled a denim dress:

Budget Friendly Two-Piece Sets For Spring

Outfit Details: F21 top, F21 skirt, Steve Madden sandals, Brixton hat

It’s not a new concept, and it’s not even a new trend, but two-piece sets are HOT for the spring/summer season. I typically don’t find too many sets that I absolutely love, but Forever 21 has some adorable, under $20 pieces that I couldn’t pass up. I don’t want you to miss out on them either, so I linked my favorite tops and bottoms below! The one I’m wearing today is definitely a favorite option. I felt like I could style it with summer wedges or sandals, pair it with other pieces, and stay cool for the summer.  I can totally see this outfit worn for a lunch date, vacation, or beach day! See how I styled a floral short set here, and a blue/white set here.

Romantic Floral Dress

Outfit Details: Chicwish dress c/o, Vince Camuto sandals, J. Mclaughlin bag, Baublebar earrings

One of my go-to online boutiques to shop romantic dresses has always been Chicwish. I always seem to find something flirty, beautiful, and one of a kind. This floral dress is no exception. For a tea date with my mom, I wore this floral maxi dress. I paired it with summer sandals, and one of my favorite bags! While this exact dress is no longer in stock, I did find some similar dresses to shop below!

Redken’s All Soft Review

Redken has always been a trusted brand among salons, and their customers. I’ve always loved their products and I’m excited to be doing a review of their new ‘All Soft’ line. The Redken All Soft line is perfect for hair that is normal to dry, and a thickness of normal to medium. It provides the moister and shine that normal to dry hair needs by enriching it with argan oil to give you that soft, and manageable hair. Below I’ve broken down the products I’ve been using to let you know their benefits and how they worked on my hair!

Products I’ve Been Using:

  • Redken All Soft Shampoo

Benefits: Gently cleanse and softens the hair.

  • Redken All Soft Conditioner

Benefits: Softens and creates a more manageable hair by replenishing the moister the hair needs.

  • Redken All Soft Mega Mask

Benefits: Two chambers with two different formulas that combines when pressed for the ultimate conditioning. Hair is softer, supple, and the shine is restored. Used every other week. Swapped with the Redken All Soft Heavy Cream (below).

  • Redken All Soft Heavy Cream

Benefits: Controls frizz and strengthens the hair. Increased shine and manageability of hair. Used every other week. Swapped with the Redken All Soft Mega Mask (above).

System Review:

After using these products from the Redken All Soft line for several weeks, I noticed positive impacts on my hair. Just like the the overall concept states, my hair is definitely more soft. I have seen an increase of shine, and more manageable hair but also less frizz, even in the Florida’s humidity. While my hair feels moisturized, I don’t feel as if these products have weighed down my hair in any way. My curls hold, and the style isn’t limp or lifeless. I absolutely love the way my hair feel after washing and using one of the masks listed above. Each week I did one, and just swapped then out with each other. My hair even looks better air-dried. I haven’t used a blow dryer on my hair, but maybe once a week, or once every other week. I keep running my fingers through my hair because it feels so soft. Along with the softness, it looks and feels healthy. My hair gets especially “crunchy” in the summer, between sweat, sand, traveling, and humidity, so the surge of moister from this line is much needed.

Thank you Hair Cuttery for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
